Volunteering Opportunities at Pine Street Inn

A university student with a focus on mathematics and physics, Matthew (Matt) Kafker was an undergraduate research assistant in microbial ecology and biophysics. His academic pursuits aside, Matt Kafker has volunteered for over 100 hours at the Pine Street Inn, a shelter for people who are homeless.

The Pine Street Inn has been serving the Boston community for over five decades and helping nearly 2,000 individuals every day. Volunteers can work as breakfast servers every day of the week between 6 and 7 a.m. at the shelter in Boston’s South End.

People who live or work near the Pine Street Inn can volunteer every evening to help with the dinner service. Volunteers may also deliver meals in both morning and afternoon shifts every day of the week.

Another opportunity for volunteers is a receptionist position at the Pine Street Clinic. Workers in this job must commit to a regular schedule.
